Circa 1936, this original drawing by Italian artist and illustrator Santi Archimede was found in Florence, Italy. Titled Storie Estive, meaning “Summer Stories,” the work features a decorative pitcher rendered in ink with watercolor additions on laid paper.
Born in Pergola in 1876, Archimede illustrated books and published an album of landscape drawings devoted to his hometown. This piece is initialed by the artist and includes handwritten Italian notes beneath the image, including a reference to Gli inventori delle persiane—“The Inventors of Venetian Blinds.”
Bold black linework, muted earthy tones, and the original inscriptions give the artwork an intimate, collected-over-time quality.
This item is authentic vintage, not a replica. Due to its age, minor imperfections in the artwork should be embraced and cherished.
