Le Taureau (Bull Studies)

A classic study in form and reduction, Le Taureau is a series of eleven lithographs created by Pablo Picasso between 1945–46. Often considered a masterclass in abstraction, the sequence shows the bull evolving from a detailed, naturalistic figure to a few essential lines.

Working with printmaker Fernand Mourlot, Picasso reworked a single lithographic stone across eleven states—gradually simplifying the image while preserving its core structure and energy. A timeless piece bridging classical drawing and modern abstraction.
