LA-based fine art duo FriendsWithYou (Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III) will bring their "Psychic Stones" to New York later this month. This marks the debut of their newest sculpture and power amulet, meant to provide spiritual healing and self-empowerment. The pieces involve the collector in their creation by bringing them "everything he or she desires in life and to provide connectivity and protection," with Sam and Tury acting as shamans who ask the buyer questions. Each of these unique "psychic stones" is meant to have a sacred geometry that bonds it to the person who buys it. Additionally, each stone comes with rituals provided by FriendsWithYou for how to use it and care for it.
FriendsWithYou has created experiential, interactive art in the past, but this is an exciting new direction for them. The "Psychic Stones" still reflect their mission to spread "the positive message of Magic, Luck, and Friendship" and to "affect world culture by cultivating special moments of spiritual awareness and powerful, joyous interaction."
The opening will take place at Paul Kasmin Gallery's PK shop located at 511 West 27th Street in New York on October 24th from 6-8 p.m. Look forward to their Rizzoli book (with a contribution by Pharrell Williams) in April 2014, as well.
