So…My Nana in Miami send me this review on Joshua Petker (via email) and I’m so into it that I’m thinking about having her give commentary on each new print or artist that is released…what do you think? -Sonja
“HI SWEETIE= REALLY ENJOY LOOKING AT ALL THE NEW PRINTS YOU SEND ME, BUT REALLY, REALLY LOVE THIS JOSHUA PETKER GUY, AND HIS “SUGARWATER” GAL. IT IS DEFINITELY ME WITH MY HAIR DYED BLACK = DON’T CARE FOR THE BLACK BUTTERFLIES, BUT I CAN REINVENT THEM TO MY CHOICE OF COLORS====ASK JOSHUA IF HE NEEDS SOME ASSISTANCE FROM A JAZZY WOMAN OF A CERTAIN AGE, WHO IS IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING HER PASSION.==PARTICULARLY LOVE “SUGARWATER” AND HER BUTTERFLIES WITH VERTIGO, OR AS MY FAVORITE EXPRESSION GOES “I FEEL PUNCHY” “ ====NANA

Last night I attended the Warholian exhibition at the Royal T gallery in Culver City. Here’s more about the exhibition and some pictures from the opening can be found HERE.

The Warholian is an exhibition of photos, film, portraits and objects by Andy Warhol and various artists inspired and influenced by his work. The exhibit features a variety of Warhol-inspired pieces by artists such as Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Jeff Koons, and Damien Hirst, celebrating the great pop artist’s deep effect on contemporary art.
Curated by Eric Shiner, The Milton Fine Curator of Art at The Andy Warhol Museum, the exhibit features some of Warhol’s most recognizable original artwork including “Marilyn” (1967), “Electric Chair” (1971), “Dollar Sign” (1981), and “Flowers” (1970).
The Warholian is curated from the private collections of Royal/T’s owner Susan Hancock and the Alan Finkelstein Collection by the celebrated Milton Fine Curator of Art at the Andy Warhol Museum, Eric Shiner.
The Warholian exhibit is free and open to the public 10:00am to 6:00pm daily from Sept. 24, 2010 through Jan. 31, 2011.
