Artist Biography
Christina M. Felice's work explores the literal, fabricated, imagined and nostalgic considerations of femininity and beauty. Questions of sexuality and identity are addressed in the form of photography and collage that incorporate appropriated imagery, fabric, vintage clothing patterns and cutouts of the human form. The result is a blurring of the lines between irony, kitsch and subtext through a delicate suggestion of memory and hints of fleeting experiences.
Felice's work is heavily influenced by the urban landscape of her childhood in South Philadelphia. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia. She will begin her MFA studies in the fall of 2010. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States, and she was one of the artists on the Scion Installation Tour in 2009. Felice lives and works in Los Angeles and is represented by Deborah Martin Gallery.
